After trying and failing to secure a correction from PolitiFact and fact checker Louis Jacobson using Twitter, Zebra Fact Check sent an email to “truthometer@politifact.com” in order to obtain the correction.
PolitiFact had quoted Hillary Rodham Clinton as saying “so many women are still paid less for men than the same work,” but Clinton hadn’t said that.
Dear Truth-O-Meter,
Your May 5, 2015 fact check of a claim by Hillary Clinton contains a misquote.
In the second paragraph, the fact check has Clinton saying “’so many women are paid less for men than the same work.’” That’s gibberish, and it isn’t what Clinton said.
The source link the fact check provides for the quotation is obsolete, by the way.
I tried tagging Louis Jacobson and @PolitiFact on Twitter to alert you to this problem, but evidently that has had no effect.
An appropriate source for the quotation occurs in that Twitter thread, should you wish to update the article with a new URL.
